The holiday season has officially arrived on Martha’s Vineyard, bringing a full lineup of festive celebrations. From Holiday Markets and Christmas parades to the beloved annual lighthouse lighting, the Island is glowing with cheer. We’ve gathered our top picks to help you soak in the spirit of the season all month long:

• Wreath Workshop — Wreath Festival - December 1st-3rd from 9:00am to 4:00pm - Help decorate 55 wreaths to be sold at the Wreath Festival on Dec. 4th.  To benefit the Federated Church Minister's Discretionary Fund to help Islander in need.  Experience appreciated or learn by doing.
• Chef’s Table | A Journey to INDIA: NAAN STOP FLAVOR FEST - December 3rd from 6:00?PM 8:30?PM - A continuance of Black Joy Kitchen’s Chef’s Table Series — and this week, we’re turning the heat ALL the way up. We’re heading to India, where spices hit different, flavors go bold, and every dish comes with a story that slaps you right in the soul
• Comedy with TBD Improv - December 3rd from 7:00pm to 8:30pm - Come join us for a fun night of improv comedy while we lambast your friends, your family, and all the traditions of the season! It'shappening upstairs at the Barn, Bowl & Bistro. Make a night of it with some food and drinks downstairs before or after the show! Often racy and raunchy, this show is for mature audiences. Unscripted and spontaneous, Vineyard-based improvisers bring the laughs using their wits and suggestions from the audience. It's highly interactive and highly entertaining. This polished and expertly hosted show will have you rolling on the floor. Performers will create scenes right on the spot in a night of fast, smart, and hilarious comedy!
• Winter Farmers Markets - December 6th & 20th from 10:00am to 1:00pm - With music, a raffle and many vendors. 
• Aquinnah Artisans Festival - December 6th & 7th from 10am to 4:00pm - 25 community artisans will be selling jewelry, paitnings, pottery, fabric arts, and more. There will also be great food and lots of fun.
• Hot Glass/Cold Beer Glassblowing Demo and Seconds Sale - December 6th from 3:00pm to 6:00pm - Join us for an easy afternoon watching our talented team share their glassblowing expertise while you enjoy a complimentary tasty beverage. We will also be opening our annual 'Seconds Sale' offering deep discounts and sharing our experimental, most unusual, and truly unique prototypes.       
• BrunchBQ & Beats with Dj Smooth B - December 7th from 10:00am to 3:00pm at Black Joy Kitchen - Black Joy Kitchen is bringing the island heat all year long on Martha’s Vineyard with BrunchBQ & Beats. From 10 AM–1 PM (Brunch Service Ends @ 3 PM), the legendary @djsmoothb is spinning the soundtrack while our kitchen serves smoky, soulful plates that taste like love, community, and pure joy. This isn’t just brunch—it’s a whole vibe. Good food. Good music. Good people. Nothing but joy.
• Cook the Vineyard: The Great Vineyard Cookie Sale - December 7th at 12:00pm - Get ready to bake and taste delicious cookies made with ingredients from the Vineyard at our Great Vineyard Cookie Sale! - Home Bakers and Cookie Enthusiasts! - The Cook the Vineyard newsletter hosts The Great Vineyard Cookie Sale on Sunday, December 7, from noon to 3 p.m., at the Grange Hall in West Tisbury.
• Town Bar & Grill 7th Annual Cocktail Competition - Wednesday, December 10th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm - Join us as we shake up the season with our 7th Annual Holiday Cocktail Competition, partnered with TC Craft Tequila  for a festive showdown bursting with sparkle, creativity, and holiday spirit! Come cheer on your favorite Island bartenders as they compete to craft the ultimate holiday cocktail. Sip your way through the evening with complimentary cocktail samples, then cast your vote to help crown this year’s Fan Favorite.
• Donaroma's Nursery Light Show - December 11th - 14th from 9:00am to 5:00pm - Festive light show coordinated to cheery holiday music. Drive through the Nursery and enjoy the colors and sounds of the holidays! Donaroma’s is a proud sponsor of Christmas In Edgartown.
• Town Bar MV Ugly Sweater Contest - December 11th from 5:00pm to 8:00pm - Break out your brightest, boldest, and downright ugliest holiday sweaters and join us for a weekend full of fun and festive vibes! From Friday through Sunday, guests are invited to show off their most outrageous holiday attire while dining with us. Snap a photo in your ugly sweater during your visit and enter our Ugly Sweater Contest for a chance to win a restaurant gift card and a festive swag basket packed with goodies! All participants will be entered into our weekend-long drawing, and the lucky winner will be announced on Sunday. Whether it’s sparkly, silly, or spectacularly tacky—we want to see it! • Holiday Garland Making Workshop - December 11th from 5:30pm to 7:00pm - Please note: this program is intended for adults. Registration is required. To register, visit the calendar at edgartownlibrary.org or call 508-627-4221. Come to the library to make your very own garland at this fun and festive workshop, hosted by Programs Coordinator Claudia Taylor and Collection Development Librarian Caroline Drogin. Using dried citrus slices, warming whole spices, a needle and thread, and ribbons, you will learn how to create a beautiful decoration for yourself, or to give to family or friends. All supplies will be provided.
• African American Heritage Trail Martha’s Vineyard - December 12th & 14th from 11:00am to 12:00pm - Walking tour focusing on Edgartown’s history embracing the stories of enslavement and fugitives. Visit the church where Frederick Douglass exhorted the people of Edgartown to resist the Fugitive Slave Act and the Courthouse honoring Superior Court Judge Herbert A Tucker. The tour culminates at Memorial wharf where you will be blessed or cursed by Wise Woman Nancy Michael. Meet at the Old Whaling Church at 11am, Friday and Sunday.
• Lighting of the Edgartown Lighthouse - Friday, December 12th from 5:30pm to 6:15pm - A time honored tradition, Edgartown’s version of a tree lighting is full of seaside village charm. Thank you to the MV Museum for the annual holiday lighting of the Edgartown Lighthouse, which takes place at 6pm sharp. Come celebrate with us at Memorial Wharf for a great viewing spot and countdown! Beginning at 5:30 PM Edgartown’s favorite mascots, non-profit concessions by the Martha’s Vineyard Boys & Girls Club, caroling, give-aways and maybe the Man In Red himself! This fun event is brought to you by the Edgartown Board of Trade.
• Minnesingers Annual Family Holiday Concert - Friday, December 12th from 8:00pm to 9:30pm - Benefit concert for the Martha’s Vineyard Regional High School choral group, Minnesingers and Vineyard Preservation Trust. This is their 33rd year the Minnesingers have performed at The Old Whaling Church. Tickets $20.00; doors open at 7:30. • Winter Walk with Vineyard Conservation Society - Saturday, December 13th from 10:00am to 12:00pm - Join the Vineyard Conservation Society for our second Winter Walk of the season! 
• Christmas in Edgartown Parade - Saturday, December 13th from 11:00am to 11:45am - Join us for the holiday magic on Main Street! Don’t miss the fun - floats, animals, music, dancers, kids, fire engines, and of course SANTA. The parade will take place on Main Street between Pease’s Point Way and Water Street. (Rain or shine)
• Open House at Morning Glory Farm - Saturday, December 13th from 12:00pm to 3:00pm - Morning Glory Farm will be hosting our annual Open House at the Farm from 12-3pm. There will be hayrides in our fields, make your own s'mores by the firepit, lot's of eggnog, light refreshments, appetizers including fresh vegetables from our farm paired with housemade dips and local cheese and fruits. Our kitchen is highlighting our very own corn chowder this year and our bakery will have Christmas treats including Bushe de Noel. Raffles and more.
• Cheesemaking Class - Saturdays in December from 9:00am to 1:00pm - Join our master cheese maker for hands on feta classes at Mermaid Farm, meet the cows in an exclusive tour and take home your own wheel of cheese. Email mermaidcheesemaking@gmail.com to sign up.
