Top things to do on Martha's Vineyard in November

“The naked, silent trees have taught me this,—

The loss of beauty is not always loss!” Elizabeth Stoddard November

November days on the Vineyard are a thing of beauty. Enjoy the beaches, wooded trails, and spectacular sunsets, just pack your jackets. The island has much to offer this time of year: art shows, holiday shops, guided trail hikes, and more. Enjoy our top 10+ things to do this November on Martha’s Vineyard!

  1. Journey With the Herd at Misty Meadows Equine Learning Center in West Tisbury. With a group of family, friends, or colleagues, enjoy our picturesque horse farm and connect with our beautiful herd of horses in a COVID safe environment. This non-riding experience can be custom designed for you with a focus on themes from fun and stress relief to being present and practicing mindfulness to developing teamwork and leadership skills.  www.mistymeadowsmv.org
  2. Sunday, November 1st from 8:30am to 4:30pm - Creating the Healthiest Thanksgiving Ever - Virtual cooking class with Jan Buhrman. This Thanksgiving it is time to enjoy both an amazingly flavored and incredibly healthy dinner. It can still have all the familiar dishes and flavor, but without those ingredients most responsible for the bloating, distended waistlines, and next day hangover effect. Modest alterations of classic Thanksgiving recipes can provide the best of both Worlds. Discover how to eliminate the use of flour, sweeten pies and cranberry sauce without the mountain of sugar, and make stuffing without the bread. We will send you a shopping list prior to the class. http://janbuhrman.com
  3. Sunday, November 1st from 11:00am to 5:00pm - Handmade Dumpling Demo - Join us as we gather to fold, stuff and eat dumplings made with ingredients pulled right from local farms. At a time when sharing food often feels impossible, this hybrid workshop allows for safe communal cooking and eating. Participants are invited to visit Slough Farm to pick up a fresh ingredient kit stocked with produce and meats fresh from local farms and learn (from a distance) how to fold a dumpling from chef Jacqueline Foster. Later that evening, everyone will reconvene (virtually) to fold, stuff, steam and eat their creations together. A tradition steeped in symbolism, families often gather to make dumplings before holidays or special occasions to bring luck and prosperity. With generations of hands at work on at Slough Farm, on Zoom, and in-home kitchens, participants will be able to safely share a connection over locally sourced ingredients, culinary craft, and the enjoyment of food. RSVPs are required to reserve a kit. Register for the event to receive the Zoom link: https://www.brownpapertickets.com/event/4787963
