  • Gay Head Run for the Light 10K - Sun October 6th at 10:30am - Run with us in our eleventh year!  Join us under the beam of the beloved Gay Head Lighthouse to Run for the Light, on Sunday, October 6th. As always, your registration fee will help support continued restoration and maintenance of the historic Gay Head Lighthouse in beautiful Aquinnah, Massachusetts.
  • 36th Annual MV Big Golf Fore Kids Tournament - Sunday, October 6 at 7:30am - Big Brothers Big Sisters of Cape Cod & the Islands invites you to get ready to enjoy a fun day at Mink Meadows Golf Club that offers terrific views and challenging play. The event features lunch from Chef Deon’s Kitchen, course contests, raffle, silent auctions and more. Most importantly, we invite you to be part of our mission as we continue our 50-year journey to create meaningful one-to-one friendships between young people and adult mentors because of generous supporters like you.
  • Vineyard Artisans Fall Festival - October 12th & 13th: 10:00 am – 4:00 pm- Indoors and outdoors, rain or shine at the Historic Grange Hall in West Tisbury.
     Free parking, free admission, great food, and a playground for kids.
    Catch all your favorite Island artisans! Weaving, fine furniture, pottery, leather goods, oil paintings, pastels, mixed media, sculpture, wampum jewelry, hand knit items, clothing, photography, handmade books and much more.
  • 6th annual Women in Film Festival – October 18th-20th - The Martha’s Vineyard Film Society is excited to present our 6th annual Women in Film Festival (WIFF), running from October 18-20, 2024 at the MV Film Center. WIFF is a celebration of women in film: both in front of and behind the camera. This festival features stories that have not usually been told from a woman’s perspective.
  • Harvest Festival - Saturday, October 20th from 10:00am to 2:00pm - Mark your calendars for our annual Harvest Festival! Expect all the classics: pumpkin carving, animals, hay maze, childre's education, food, music, and more. We ca't wait to celebrate the season with you all!
  • The 79th Derby at an ocean near you - Sun September 15 - Sat October 19 - Come to the Vineyard and Fish The Derby! For almost eight decades, "The Derby" has been a time to renew friendships, share a hot cup of coffee and create memories that fuel the winter's exaggerated fish tales. It is a time for all to refocus on the natural beauty of this Island sanctuary. So come and join us, to experience great fishing, rich history, meeting new friends, and generous sponsor-donated prizes - all in support of our scholarship program. Remember: Registration is open throughout the Derby.
  • Martha's Vineyard Brunch Run/Walk - Saturday, October 19th from 8:00am to 11:00am - Fall is the best time of year on Martha’s Vineyard!  Join us for a race unlike any other: for the Annual Martha’s Vineyard Brunch Run/Walk on Saturday, Oct. 19, at 8:00 a.m., presented by the Edgartown Board of Trade. Pick your distance! This race offers a One Miler as well as a 5K and 10K USATF sanctioned courses which are flat and fast, and the 10K course runs along scenic Atlantic Drive right by the ocean. Immediately following the race, this unique and exciting event includes a post-race "Brunch" party with "over the top" brunch nibbles and refreshing beverages presented by our sponsors. All participants will receive a t-shirt and custom commemorative brunch glass which are guaranteed for the first 150 registrants. Medals will be awarded to the first place finisher in each running race category.
  • West Tisbury Farmers' Market - Saturdays in October from 9:00am to 12:00pm - Outdoor farmers market features locally grown produce and meat and locally made products. Restrooms and free parking available. No dogs allowed. No smoking. The market is dedicated to bringing local agricultural products to the people both living on and visiting the Island. The market was started in 1974 by a group of Island growers.
  • Pumpkin Festival - Saturday, October 19th from 11:00am to 2:00pm - This is a free family celebration of the harvest. We’ll have all kinds of fun including pumpkin carving, cider pressing, games, hay rides and mini-hay maze, face painting. Festive autumnal treats and other foods! Free admission. 
  • SparkMV X TradesUp - Saturday, October 26th from 12:00pm to 4:00pm - The MV Builders Association is proud to host the first ever SparkMV. Join us in celebrating trades and crafts! This event will bring together the Island's most talented tradespeople including those in design, ancient trades, arborists, plumbers, carpenters, and farmers, among others, to create hands-on experiences for kids to try a skilled trade in a safe and engaging environment.
  • Halloween in Oak Bluffs - Saturday, October 26th from 1:00pm to 4:00pm - Circuit Avenue, Oak Bluffs Halloween events for all ages! Enjoy trick or treating, a costume parade, costume contest, scavenger hunt, movies at The Strand, mini-pumpkin decorating at Dockside, an open house at Enchanted Chocolates, and more.
