All Island Art Show at the Tabernacle - Monday, August 1 at 10:00am to 3:00pm - The All Island Art Show will take place on Monday, August 1 from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Tabernacle in Oak Bluffs.

Moonrise Kayak Tour - Monday, August 1 at 6:30pm to 8:30pm - See Sengekontacket Pond in a new light—moonlight—as we celebrate each month's full moon. With a guide, kayak on the pond as the sun sets, stars twinkle, and the moon rises. Registration is required online at www.massaudubon.org.

Martha’s Vineyard Comedy Fest - August 1 - 15 at 9:00pm - The stage is set for the 11th annual Martha’s Vineyard Comedy Fest. This year's line-up features Damon Williams, Alonzo Bodden, Coco Brown, Chris Spencer, B-Phlat, Brandi Denise and many more. Tickets can be purchased online at marthasvineyardcomedyfest.com.

Beyond Recipes: How Stories Shape the New Cookbook - Tuesday, August 2 at 11:30am to 1:30pm - Martha's Vineyard Magazine's Cook the Vineyard presents authors Bryant Terry (Black Food, Vegetable Kingdom) and Nicole A. Taylor (Watermelon and Red Birds: A Cookbook for Juneteenth and Black Celebrations) in a conversation moderated by Dawn Davis, editor in chief of Bon Appetit and Epicurious.

Outdoor Summer Film Series: Monty Python and the Holy Grail - Wednesday, August 3 at 8:30pm - Tickets are $12 general admission/$9 for MVFS members/$7 for children under 15. Tickets must be purchased in advance; no tickets will be sold at the event.

Summer Institute Speaker: Mark Bittman - Thursday, August 4 at 7:30pm to 8:30pm - Celebrated food writer Mark Bittma's talk is entitled "What's Wrong with the Food System and What Can We Do About It?" Mr. Bittman has been a leading voice in global food culture and policy for more than three decades.

MV African American Film Festival - August 5th - 13th - The Run&Shoot Filmworks Martha's Vineyard African American Film Festival also known as "The Summer's Finest Film Festival" is now entering its 20th year on Martha's Vineyard.

First Friday - Friday, August 5 at 4:00pm to 11:00pm - First Friday is an outdoor event in Vineyard Haven, Martha's Vineyard. We have Music, Art, and Food, so stop by and check it out on the First Friday of each month June-October.

The Black Party MV: Hosted by A Long Talk About the Uncomfortable Truth - Saturday, August 6 at 12:00pm to 4:00pm at Waban Park - Party With a Purpose! To that end, we at A Long Talk are hosting a party called “The Black Party”. If you’ve never heard of or attended a Black Party before, join the crowd. We just made it up. The Moth Mainstage - Saturday, August 6 at 7:30pm - The Moth Mainstage returns to Martha's Vineyard for an evening of true stories, told live, without notes. Doors open at 6:30 p.m. Stories begin at 7:30 p.m.

Built on Stilts Festival - August 11th - 22nd at 8:00pm - The Built on Stilts Dance Festival is comprised of work by members of the Vineyard Community and professional performing artists from the island and beyond.

Grand Illumination Night - Wednesday, August 17 at 8:00pm - An annual tradition, the gingerbread cottages in the Camp Ground are festooned with colorful lanterns that are illuminated all at once after sunset.

Martha's Vineyard Agricultural Fair August 18th - 21st - The 160th Martha's Vineyard Agricultural Fair runs from August 18 through the 21 at the fairgrounds in West Tisbury. Rides, games, shucking and fiddle contests, skillet toss and livestock shows.

Oak Bluffs Fireworks! - Friday, August 19 at 9:00pm - Oak Bluffs Fireworks will light up the sky at Ocean Park at approximately 9 p.m. Hosted by the Town of Oak Bluffs. 

Beach Road Weekend - Friday, August 26 through Sunday, August 28 - Beach Road Weekend is produced by the Martha’s Vineyard Concert Series with support from Innovation Arts & Entertainment.

Edgartown Lighthouse Tours - Daily in August from 10:00am to 4:00pm - The Edgartown Light stands perched at the mouth of the harbor, watching over beachgoers and sailors alike.

Family Drumming at the Native Earth Teaching Farm - Mondays and Friday in August at 9:00am - Choose between hundreds of percussion instruments from around the world and participate in an energetic and serene start to your day.

 

Guided Arboretum Tour - Tuesdays in August at 9:00am - Learn about the history, people, and plants that make Polly Hill Arboretum a special place on one of our daily tours from a knowledgeable volunteer guide.

Cinema Circus at the Grange - Wednesdays in August from 4:00pm to 6:00pm - Cinema Circus is back and better than ever!

The Vineyard's Drive-In! Fridays and Saturdays in August at 7:45pm

Camp Ground Walking Tours - Thursdays in August from 11:00am to 12:30pm - The 150-year-old colorful gingerbread cottages are a must-see in Oak Bluffs. Join a guided walking tour through the beautiful grounds of the MVCMA.

Live Music: Featherstone Fridays with Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish - Fridays in August at 6:30pm - On summertime Friday nights, Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish take the stage of the Art Barn at Featherstone Center for the Arts.

Island Eats: Takeout without the Trash - Zero waste takeout for a more sustainable future - Island Eats is a home-grown reusable takeout container pilot program helping you enjoy the same great takeout you love without all the waste. The pilot will run through the end of September in partnership with a small handful of great island restaurants.
