July is a spectacular month to visit the Vineyard! It’s the height of the summer season on Martha’s Vineyard and there are endless activities to do! The island is hopping with events, food, sun and fun. Check out our top 10 things to do in July!
1. Farm Tour with Meadow Hayride at the Farm Institute - Monday, July 1 10 am. Explore the FARM with a guided tour. Tour includes thirty minute walking tour around main campus and barns followed by a hayride to see the Katama plains–and their ruminant inhabitants–from a whole new angle. Drop in, no need to register in advance. Family size of up to five. Hayride space is limited and is first come, first serve.
2. Trivia Night at Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery - Monday’s in July at 6:30 pm. Light-hearted, general knowledge trivia hosted by Johnny Showtime. $25 and $10 gift certificates* to Bad Martha to 1st and 2nd place. Space is limited, no reservations.
3. Featherstone Flea & Fine Arts Markets - Tuesdays in July from 9:30 am to 2:00 pm. The 14th Annual Flea and Fine Arts Market where Vineyard artists bring their jewelry, art, clothing and crafts, and spread their wares outside across the grounds of the Featherstone campus.
4. Chilmark Flea Market - Wednesdays and Saturdays in July from 9:00 am to 2:00 pm. The oldest outdoor Flea Market venue on the Island. The "Flea" has evolved into a market like no other. High quality handmade items from Vineyard artists and craftsmen, antiques, imports and vintage finds, including jewelry, clothing, art, food items and more.
5. 4th of July parade and fireworks in Edgartown! All day event!
6. Grey Barn and Farm cheese talk and tour - Wednesdays in July from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm. Learn about the cheese making process from udder to table. Enjoy watching our cows being milked and hear about what it takes to turn milk into cheese. You will then taste your way through a selection of all of our cheeses. B.Y.O.B. if you like.
7. Theater: The Winter’s Tale at the Tisbury Amphitheater - Wed-Sat, July 11 - August 11, 2019 5:00 pm. Kings and shepherds, princes and princesses, love and magic, Sicilia and Bohemia, and a bear! Shakespeare's pastoral-romantical-tragical-comical tale unfolds in scenes that are set sixteen years apart. Sure to be a lively and lovely production in our beautiful outdoor amphitheater this summer. Perfect for families!
8. Vineyard Cup Regatta - Friday July 12 through Sunday July 14. Three days of sailing races, a harborside party in the Race Village at the Martha’s Vineyard Shipyard in Vineyard Haven with locally sourced cuisine, live music, daily awards, sponsored activities and give-aways.
9. Sunset Concert Series at Trinity Park Tabernacle - Friday, July 12 - 6:00 pm to 7:30 pm. Johnny Hoy and the Bluefish! Popular Island musicians play on the Tabernacle Green. Bring your lawn chairs or blankets and a picnic, or purchase your eats from the SMOAK food truck.
10. Visit East Chop Lighthouse - Sundays in July from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm! The East Chop Lighthouse is open seasonally on Sunday evenings around sunset. A lighthouse keeper will be available and the doors will be open during designated hours.
