10 Things to do in June on Martha's Vineyard


Summer is just days away on Martha’s Vineyard and we’re celebrating with a jam-packed month of events on the island. Grab your sneakers and take a cross-island hike of the island, or, learn about MV’s osprey. Perhaps a wine tasting or food festival is more your thing? We’ve got it all this month on Martha’s Vineyard:  

  1. Learn to Brew: Head to Bad Martha Farmer’s Brewery on Saturday, June 2 for the Garden to Glass class to learn about home brewing lead by Bad Martha Brewmaster Jacobi Reid. Reid will share the process behind home brewing using locally grown Farm Institute hops, the event will then conclude with a tour and tasting.
  2. Trek the Island: Traverse the island on the annual Cross-Island Hike on Saturday, June 2. This year’s hike will start at Menemsha Beach in Chilmark at 8:15 a.m. and end at the Blackwater Pond Reservation in West Tisbury.
  3. Have a Hive Tour: Ever wonder about the secret life of bees? Take a tour of the family owned Ginny Bee Honey Farms on Saturday, June 2 from 9:00 – 10:30 a.m. Participants will don a bee protective jacket, veil and gloves for the hands-on tour ending in a taste test of organic honey produce on-site.
  4. Wine and Dine: Learn about wine blending at an interactive Wine Blending Workshop & Supper with Rodney Strong hosted by the Covington on Wednesday, June 6. Participants will learn how to make their own red wine blend while enjoying dishes from Chef Angelica Loscocco.
  5. Get an Osprey Education: Learn about one of the quintessential island birds – the osprey – at the Intro to MV Osprey class at the Cape Pogue Wildlife Refuge. The session, taking place Friday mornings starting at 11:00 a.m. during the month of June, will include an introductory presentation plus a vehicle tour to some of Chappaquiddick’s osprey nests.
  6. Head to Harborfest: Don’t miss the annual Oak Bluffs Harbor Festival on Saturday, June 16. The all-day event features more than 40 vendors, plus music, raffles and more. 
  7. Celebrate Farms and Fathers: Celebrate dad this Father’s day with a BBQ & Bluegrass event at the Farm Institute on Sunday, June 17 from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m.  Enjoy music from the Pickpocket Allstars and BBQ provided by A Moveable Feast. 
  8. Enjoy Classical Music: David Roderick and Friends featuring, Olivia de Geofroy, Molly Sturges, David Behnke, Atzic Marquez and David Roderick. They will be performing Handel, Mozart, Beethoven and Brahms at the West Tisbury Library's Community Room on Saturday, June 23 from 4-5pm.
  9. See Art in Bloom: The Martha’s Vineyard Garden Club is hosting its annual Blooming Art event Thursday, June 21 through Sunday, June 24. The show, held at the Old Mill, features fine art and floral arrangements for the Club’s annual fundraising event. 
  10. Seek out Strawberries: Come taste the fruit of the season at Morning Glory Farm’s annual Strawberry Festivalon Saturday, June 23 from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. There will be face painting, a cookout, hay rides and of course, strawberry shortcake.
