- Kids Trout Derby - Saturday, May 4 from 5:45am to 9:00am - The Martha's Vineyard Rod & Gun Club Kids Trout Derby will return at first light on Saturday, May 4 for its 47th year. The club purchases hundreds of trout and stocks Duarte's Pond in West Tisbury. Get those poles, bobbers and worms ready! The derby is free for kids 0-14 and includes hot dogs, donuts, coffee and hot chocolate, along with lots of prizes. No experience is necessary. Volunteers will be available to help neophytes. - Spring Forest Bathing - Saturday, May 4 at 10:00am to 11:00am - Forest Bathing, or Shinrin-Yoku, a Japanese practice of relaxation in nature, has been shown to improve immune response, mental performance, and creativity. Enjoy an easy, mindful walk through beautiful Arboretum trees in a peaceful spring setting. This walk is led by Shanta Gabriel, who has worked in the field of alternative health for 40 years and has been leading groups in nature for more than a decade.
- Family Derby Day Party at The Flying Horses - Saturday, May 4 at 2:00pm to 5:00pm - Family fun on Derby Day to benefit the historic Flying Horses Carousel! Put on your Derby best and craziest hat! Prizes, photos, free popcorn and cotton candy. Big screen TV and more surprises!
- Mother's Day Portraits - Sunday, May 5 at 1:00pm to 3:00pm - Photographer Lynn Christoffers will offer free portraits to all grandmothers, mothers, and families in honor of Mother’s Day. Lynn will take photos in the library’s Children’s Room and will send you a jpeg via email. Bring your own mother, or grandmother, or children, or whoever is special to you, to help celebrate Mother’s Day. (No pets please). This event is free and open to the public.
- 41st Annual Bird-a-Thon - May 10th & 11th at 6:00pm - Our annual fundraiser, where teams of birders and boosters set out to spot the most species of birds in 24 hours in Massachusetts and raise money for Felix Neck.
- Pirates Puzzle Escape Room - Saturdays in May from 9:00am to 4:00pm - Play our fun and immersive escape room games and creates new memories. Work with your team to solve a series of puzzles in our Jaws or Vineyard Mystery rooms. In our Jaws room, save the town of Amity from another Jaws attack. In our Vineyard Mystery room, chase Pirate Captain Drew Whitney around famed Martha's Vineyard landmarks and recover the famed Flying Horses Carousel brass ring that he stole.
- Cheeseboard Building with MV Cheesery - Saturday, May 11 from 10:00am to 11:30am - Join Morgen of MV Cheesery as she shares tips and tricks for creating your own cheese board at home! Each participant will have an opportunity to taste a variety of cheeses, enjoy learning a bit in a cheese 101, and create a take home 9 x 9 cheese grazing box of their own making complete with crackers and other accoutrements (serves 1-3).
- Exhibit: Eye on the Island: Portraits by Peter Simon - Beginning Saturday, May 11th from 10:00am to 4:00pm - During his life, renowned photojournalist Peter Simon (1947-2018) captured portraits of famous musicians and political movements, but his heart was always here on the Island. For more than 50 years, Peter photographed the Island and its people in all seasons. Recently, the Museum acquired nearly 300 of Peter’s candid portraits, taken during the 1990s. Some of the individuals have been identified, but many remain nameless. This exhibition features a selection of known and unknown faces, in the hopes that you can help us identify them!

Starring Niki Fridh and Matt Stabile.
