- Locally Grown and Delicious with Casey Mazar-Kelley - Saturday, February 4 at 5:30pm to 7:00pm - Think seasonal cooking is best left to the months of July and August? Think again! Join Casey Mazar-Kelley in this monthly class on how to make comforting, delicious and, yes, local meals in January, February, and March! Every month we will base our recipes on what we pick up from Island Grown Initiative’s CSA and what is available at other Island farms. Classes are hands-on and participants will prepare a meal together that will then be shared around the table at the end of the class.
- Land Bank Guided Walk: Pecoy Point Preserve - Sunday, February 5 at 1:00pm - Come enjoy the beauty and natural history of Land Bank properties! The staff will lead a free natural history walk. - Full Moon Owl Prowl - Monday, February 6 at 6:00pm to 7:00pm - Hoo's out there? Owls silently fly through our island woods and fields. Head to Felix Neck for a bright moon stroll to look, listen, and learn about these nocturnal birds.
- Membership Down: A No-Holds Barred Variety Game Show - Tuesday, February 7 at 6:30pm - Grab dinner at Mo's Lunch and a drink at the P.A. Club and join us for Membership Down, the Island's only variety game show, where three contestants risk it all for the chance to win money for their favorite Island charity.
- Winter Walk at the Arboretum - Saturday, February 11 at 10:00am to 11:00am - In every season the Arboretum offers something of beauty and interest to visitors. At this time of year, plants display unique foliage color, textures, structure, cones, and berries. Each tour will be led by a PHA staff member. Tour sizes are limited. Registration is required. - Artisanal Breads of the World with Vineyard Baker - Saturday, February 11 at 10:00am to 12:00pm - Travel the world through the lens of bread! Join Teri Culetto for these hands-on, bi-weekly Saturday morning workshops to learn the art of bread. Each participant will take home a loaf of their own making. On Feb. 11, the focus is on Swedish Kanelbulle (cinnamon buns or breads). Pre-registration is required for all Farm Institute cooking classes. Cost: $32 for members, $40 for non-members. - Live Music: Chilmark Potluck Jam - Saturday, February 18 at 6:00pm to 10:00pm - The return of a favorite off-season tradition. Bring a dish to share or just show up and bring the party and be present.
- Forest Bathing at Polly Hill - Tuesday, February 28 at 9:00am to 10:00am - Forest Bathing, or Shinrin-Yoku, a Japanese practice of relaxation in nature, has been shown to improve immune response, mental performance, and creativity. Enjoy an easy, mindful walk through beautiful Arboretum trees in a special environment. - Yoga at the MV Museum with YogiJay - Saturdays in January from 8:30am to 9:30am - Join YogiJay (Jason Mazar-Kelly) of Wholesome MV every week at the Martha's Vineyard Museum for a community-based all-levels yoga class. Classes are typically held outdoors, however, in case of rain or cold temperatures during the late fall, winter, and early spring, we will practice indoors in the beautiful atrium of the museum surrounded by the history and culture of the Island. This weekly event is a great way to connect with the community and enjoy a sweet practice of movement, meditation, and breath in one of the most beautiful spots on the Island.
