- Wednesday, January 1 from 10:00am - 2:00pm - New Year’s Day Brunch at Bettini Restaurant! Assorted pastries, a made to order omelet station, oven baked Virginia ham, whole roasted roast beef, grilled salmon, baked Mac & Cheese, an array of sweets, sparking flights and build your own bloody Marys. - Sundays in January from 4:00pm - 9:00pm - Opera Night at La Soffitta! Listen to the world's favorite arias and duets while enjoying the Vineyard's finest Italian cuisine. With Jenny Friedman, soprano; David Behnke, baritone; and Molly Sturges, keyboard.
- Saturday, January 4 at 6:30 pm - Chilmark Potluck Jam at the Chilmark Community Center! Come enjoy local Island musicians and delicious food. A perfect way to spend a Saturday in January!
- Monday January 6 at 7:00 pm - “The weatherman’s always wrong, so how can we predict the climate?” – A Talk with Dr. Peter Neilley at the West Tisbury Library! We like to poke fun at weather forecasters for seemingly always getting the forecast wrong, so how can they possibly tell us anything about our future climate? This talk will take a look at how modern weather and climate forecasts are made, and what we do and do not know about the weather’s future, whether tomorrows or next century’s. We’ll also take a look at some of the most recent climate projections and what that means for the Island. This event is free and open to the public. Refreshments will be served.
- Wednesday, January 8 from 3:30pm - 5:00 pm - Giveback with Indian Takeaway at the MVRHS! Order Chicken Tikka Masala or Vegetarian Chole served with Basmati Rice, kaali dal and naan. Pay and pick up from the MVRHS cafeteria. Pre-order online. Proceeds benefit MVRHS School Lunch Program and Island Grown Schools.
- Saturday & Sunday, January 11 & 12 from 2:00pm - 9:00pm - CinemaDance Film Festival at PathwaysARTS Gathering Space! The 1st annual CinemaDance Festival featuring the compelling and thought provoking hybrid art form of dance film. PathwaysARTS hosts this festival of dance made for film around the world, with past & current work, art & experimental films, shorts & documentaries, for all ages.
- Saturday, January 18 from 1:00pm - 3:00pm - Sausage Making at the FARM Institute! A hands-on class for preparing, seasoning, grinding and stuffing your own sausage. All participants will take home 2 lbs of locally raised sausage. Pre-registration is required.
- Saturday, January 25 from 10:00am - 11:30am - Fermentation 101: Kimchi at the FARM Institute! Join Island fermenter, Laurisa Rich, in this kimchi class. We'll discuss vegetable fermentation in general and together each participant will prepare a jar of kimchi to take home with them.
